In what ways did African Americans continue to experience prejudice as they moved to the North?
Answer:
The Great Migration
Explanation:
The Great Migration was the relocation of more than 6 million African Americans from the rural South to the cities of the North, Midwest and West from about 1916 to 1970. Driven from their homes by unsatisfactory economic opportunities and harsh segregationist laws, many blacks headed north, where they took advantage of the need for industrial workers that arose during the First World War. During the Great Migration, African Americans began to build a new place for themselves in public life, actively confronting racial prejudice as well as economic, political and social challenges to create a black urban culture that would exert enormous influence in the decades to come.
Despite the migration to the North, African Americans faced ongoing prejudice in the form of housing discrimination, job competition and increasing racial violence. This was due to enduring societal attitudes steeped in a history of institutionalized racism that persisted even after the abolition of slavery.
Explanation:As African Americans migrated to the North, they continued to face various manifestations of prejudice. Often, they found themselves compelled to live in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions due to the higher cost of living in the cities coupled with discrimination from landlords.
Adding to this, fear and resentment from European immigrants looking to secure jobs for themselves led to increased hostility and competition. Houseowners in white neighborhoods often entered into covenants agreeing not to sell to African American buyers, a phenomenon known as 'redlining'. As a result, African Americans ended up concentrated in some of the worst slum areas.
Moreover, racism in the North also extended to the realm of employment- where jobs held traditionally by African American workers were getting snatched by white workers, leading to an increase in unemployment for African Americans. Escalating racial violence, including lynching, also marked this era. This prejudice against African Americans was steeped in a long history of institutionalized racism post the abolition of slavery.

What did Great Britain enter world war 1
Great Britain entered World War I on August 4, 1914, in response to Germany's disregard for Belgium's neutrality. The war became a protracted and industrialized conflict with millions of casualties, reshaping the world politically, culturally, and artistically.
Great Britain declared war on Germany on August 4, 1914, marking its entry into what became known as World War I. The primary reason was Germany's violation of Belgium's neutrality, which was guaranteed by various European powers, including Britain. While initially anticipated to be a short conflict, the war stretched on until November 11, 1918, and became known for its brutal trench warfare and the use of modern industrialized weaponry, leading to millions of casualties.
The European conflict expanded to encompass various regions, including the Middle and Near East, Africa, and the waters around Europe. However, despite efforts on multiple fronts, the war often bogged down into deadlocks, such at the Gallipoli Campaign. Meanwhile, the war represented the first fully industrialized conflict in history, introducing horrific new methods of combat and a staggering scale of human loss.
The implications of World War I extended far beyond the battlefield, influencing art, literature, and politics. It reshaped the geopolitical landscape, fueling future conflicts and tension. The outcome of the Great War ultimately served as a prelude to further global upheaval, including the rise of Modernist movements in arts and the widespread sense of disillusionment among the nations and peoples involved.

what was life lkke for the mexican immigrants
Life for Mexican immigrants varied greatly depending on the time period, their destination, and their individual circumstances.
However, several common themes emerge in the history of Mexican immigration to the United States:
1. Economic Opportunities: Many Mexican immigrants came to the United States seeking better economic opportunities than were available in Mexico. They often took jobs in agriculture, manufacturing, and service industries. These jobs were frequently low-paying and physically demanding.
2. Discrimination: Mexican immigrants have faced discrimination and xenophobia in the United States. This ranged from social exclusion to legal discrimination, such as segregation and the denial of rights and services.
3. Living Conditions: The living conditions for Mexican immigrants were often poor. Many lived in barrios, or ethnic enclaves, where housing was substandard and overcrowded. Access to healthcare and education was also limited.
4. Legal Status: The legal status of Mexican immigrants has been a significant issue throughout history. Many immigrants, especially in the early 20th century, entered the country without formal authorization due to the demand for labor in the United States. This has led to periods of mass deportation and repatriation, such as during the Great Depression.
5. Family and Community: Despite the challenges, Mexican immigrants have often built strong family and community networks. These networks provided social support, helped maintain cultural traditions, and offered assistance in finding work and housing.
6. Activism: Mexican immigrants have a long history of activism in the United States. They have organized labor unions, fought for civil rights, and advocated for better working and living conditions.
7. Contributions: Mexican immigrants have made significant contributions to the United States in various fields, including agriculture, where they have been instrumental in the success of the industry; the military, where they have served in large numbers; and American culture, through food, music, and art.
8. Changing Policies: U.S. immigration policies have fluctuated over time, affecting the lives of Mexican immigrants. Periods of open borders have been followed by strict enforcement and attempts at reform.
9. Education: Access to education has been a challenge for many Mexican immigrant families. Language barriers, economic pressures to work instead of attending school, and discrimination have historically limited educational opportunities.
10. Integration and Identity: Mexican immigrants have navigated the complex process of integration and maintaining their cultural identity. This has involved balancing the preservation of their heritage with the pressures and opportunities of life in the United States.
It's important to note that the experiences of Mexican immigrants have not been monolithic. Factors such as class, education, skin color, and English proficiency have all influenced individual experiences. Additionally, the relationship between the United States and Mexico, including trade agreements and foreign policy, has historically impacted immigration patterns and the treatment of immigrants.

garrisoned forts that we’re used for protection against Indian tribes ?
Garrisoned forts were used for protection against Indian tribes and formed an integral part of the defensive strategy of European settlers and later the United States in North America, providing strategic military structures along frontiers.
Garrisoned forts were indeed used for protection against Indian tribes in various periods of American history. These forts served as secure posts for settlers and soldiers, providing a safe haven to retreat to in case of native hostilities. As documented, the French built extensive fortifications throughout North America and these structures not only prevented attacks but also served as critical points of control and influence over strategic locations. Forts like Ticonderoga sat imposingly upon the landscape, outfitted with cannon and positioned in remote areas to project French power. On the frontier, the distribution of settlements and the number of Indian tribes made it challenging to defend every community adequately. Governors of American territories often sought reinforcement, with fears of imminent attacks if left unsupported by more than a handful of rangers. The strategic military structures, like ranger stations and forts, allowed for an organized defense against potential threats from both native tribes and other European powers.

Why is Queen Elizabeth I’s reign considered as the golden era?
Answer:
Queen Elizabeth I was a strong and effective ruler that strengthened England´s economy and diplomatic influence in Europe. From being a troubled middle power when she assumed the throne in 1558, she had made England a major player in European power politics by the time of her death. In her times, the kingdom got consolidated as a naval power. Both domestically and by engaging in European wars, she contributed to the consolidation of Protestantism. Besides, her era is a time of the flowering of the arts and literature. Shakespeare lived and created in the Elizabethan era, the golden era of England.
Explanation:
Queen Elizabeth I's reign, beginning in 1558, is known as the golden era due to economic prosperity from English mercantilism, cultural richness through the arts exemplified by Shakespeare, expansion of trade, and naval power demonstrated by the defeat of the Spanish Armada.
Explanation:Queen Elizabeth I’s reign is considered as the golden era for a multitude of reasons. During her rule, which began in 1558, England experienced significant economic growth fostered by English mercantilism, a system that promoted state-assisted manufacturing and trading. This era was not just marked by economic prosperity but also by the flourishing of English arts, most notably the literary works of Shakespeare and Marlowe, which are still celebrated today.
Moreover, Elizabeth's reign was characterized by a considerable expansion of trade and exploration. Despite the dominance of the Spanish in New World colonization, Elizabeth enabled English privateers to loot Spanish ships, thereby augmenting English wealth significantly. Her era also saw the English defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, a feat that marked the rise of England as a major naval power.
The adoption of a Protestant policy in England further segregated it from the Catholic dominance of Europe, and Elizabeth herself was a staunch supporter of advancing England's position in the Atlantic World against Spanish efforts.
