Supporters of rent control say that it _____ the price of renting an apartment. raises

lowers

does not change

Supporters of minimum wage say that it provides _____ for people with low-paying jobs.

more money

more jobs

less personal income

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Lowers

More money

Explanation:

Supporters of rent control argue that Controlling rent prevents owners from speculating with the price of renting and keeps the rents close to rea income. Think of the new services like Airbnb, an owner might feel that she can get more money by turning an apartment into an Airbnb than renting it to a working family. Without control, rents can then easily go wild, as more and more owners try to turn their apartments into touristic flats, pricing out people with lower incomes.

Supporters of minimum wage argue that it protects the lowest earners and ensures that people make a minimum amount of money. It also means that no matter how many people compete for the same position, the employer cannot lower the price, and therefore nobody can underbid another person for a job.

Archaeologists have found evidence of an original new hunting tool developed by north american people in what is now new mexico about 12,000 years ago. they called it the ______ point.

Answers

Answer:

Clovis

Explanation:

The Clovis point that has been found by the archaeologists has been named after the location of finding it. It was a tool used for hunting, and it belonged to people that were hunter-gatherers. These people managed to create a new, very efficient type of point for their spears, enabling them to make more damage to the animals they hunted, thus killing them more easily. Also, it provided much more safety during the hunting, as they were able to use this new tool from distance, thus they they did not had to go face to face with the large animals. These people were believed to be the first settlers of the Americans, but recently there has been multiple sights where the excavations show that the Americas were actually inhabited by humans much earlier than that.

What was the result of the battle of dien bien phu

Answers

Answer:

The Battle of Dien Bien Phu was the decisive engagement in the first Indochina War (1946–54). After French forces occupied the Dien Bien Phu valley in late 1953, Viet Minh commander Vo Nguyen Giap amassed troops and placed heavy artillery in caves of the mountains overlooking the French camp. Boosted by Chinese aid, Giap mounted assaults on the opposition’s strong points beginning in March 1954, eliminating use of the French airfield. Viet Minh forces overran the base in early May, prompting the French government to seek an end to the fighting with the signing of the Geneva Accords of 1954.

What is "shadow war," and how is it different from previous forms of warfare?

Answers

Answer:-

“Shadow war” is similar to “proxy war” which is defined as war held between basically 2 lands/regions/countries or more where the larger group maliciously and cunningly encourages the other smaller groups to fight, shed blood of one and another. Moreover it only oversees but doesn’t fight if it would fight, then it will fight no more than very little. Simply, it is a well planned undirect numbers of attacks on those you(anyone) hate(hates).

For instances:

War going on in countries like

• Syria

• Yemen War

• according to some ppl the war in Afghanistan was one of them, I can’t say much about it because of the US’s government suppression.

• Korean War.

Hope the wars currently going on stops and all of us receives our full fundamental rights.

#PrayersForPeace✌✌✌✌✌

Final answer:

Shadow war involves a new style of multi-front conflict, merging political, conventional, irregular, and cyberwarfare, enabled by technological advances. It blurs traditional lines between combatants and civilians, and redefines the nature of heroism and valor in war.

Explanation:

Shadow war, also known as hybrid warfare, represents a new paradigm in military conflict that has emerged in the early 21st century. Unlike traditional warfare, which involved direct, overt military engagements, shadow war operates across multiple fronts simultaneously. It combines political, conventional, irregular, and cyberwarfare to achieve strategic objectives while often remaining below the threshold of open war. Developments in technology, such as drones and advanced missile systems, allow militaries to strike at great distances, minimizing the direct risk to their forces. Furthermore, cyberwarfare brings a new dimension to the battlefield, not by physically destroying, but by disrupting or sabotaging critical infrastructure and spreading disinformation.

The distinction between military and non-military instruments of power has blurred in shadow warfare. While earlier wars drew clear lines between combatants and non-combatants, hybrid warfare techniques, such as cyber-infiltration and disinformation, can destabilize the internal functioning of states without traditional military confrontation. Moreover, shadow war challenges the ethical and moral perceptions of heroism and the art of war, moving away from the chivalric ideal of brave, face-to-face combat. The increased autonomy of robotics and remote controlled systems is pushing battlefield engagements towards more impersonal and distant forms of combat, which raises significant questions about the human cost of war and the nature of valor.

Why did some northerners support personal liberty laws? The Fugitive Slave Act paid judges more if they ruled against slave owners. They resented federal intervention in the affairs of independent states. The “Christiana Riot” showed that slave owners would violently resist the law. They believed runaway slaves should be returned to their owners in the South.

Answers

The correct answer is B) They resented federal intervention in the affairs of independent states.

Some northerners supported personal liberty laws because they resented federal intervention in the affairs of independent states.

Before the Civil War, governments of the northern states passed the liberty laws to protect African American slaves that escaped from southern plantations. Many slaves went to the North to hide and settle there. The personal liberty laws served to counteract the Fugitive Slave Acts. These laws also provided jury trial in case people needed it.

Final answer:

Some northerners supported personal liberty laws in response to the Fugitive Slave Acts, as a stand against federal intervention in states' affairs regarding slavery practices and as an effort to protect the rights of African Americans.

Explanation:

During the mid-19th century in America, conflicting views about slavery prevailed in the northern and southern states. Some northerners supported personal liberty laws as they were state laws enacted in response to the Fugitive Slave Acts of 1793 and 1850. They were intended to protect the rights of African Americans, who could otherwise be apprehended and illegally sold into the southern slave trade.

The supporters of personal liberty laws resented federal intervention in the affairs of independent states, especially when it came to laws supporting slavery. They believed in the rights of individual states to decide their own practices and laws in relation to slavery. The personal liberty laws hence represented an expression of their resistance and a fight for human rights.

Why did Vasco de Gama enter India?

Answers

Answer: To establish a commercial route between Portugal and India

During the fifteenth century the commercial route of spices from India (Asia) to Europe was monopolized by the Arabs. Before it was Italy that dominated this trade, but after the capture of Constantinople by the Ottomans in 1453, this changed, resulting in a more expensive purchase of spices  for Europe (Portugal specifically, in this case).

However, in Portugal, the idea of carrying out an exploratory expedition to these Indian lands and inaugurating a new commercial route was already underway. Since the Portuguese navigator Bartolomé Díaz had managed to reach the Indian Ocean by crossing the southern tip of Africa through the Atlantic Ocean. Therefore, that part of the route was already known.

It is then how, after planning, studies and some unsuccessful attempt to start with such an ambitious expedition, the newly appointed king of Portugal, Manuel I, appointed Vasco da Gama to lead that expedition.

The initial idea was to reach India around the southern edge of the African continent, passing by the Cape of Good Hope and go in search of India in order to establish a safe and reliable maritime route.

Then, on July 8th, 1497, Vasco da Gama sailed, in what would be his first trip to Asian lands, from the port of Santa Maria de Belém, on the banks of the Tagus River in Lisbon and on May 20th, 1498, his fleet arrived near Calicut, India. After which the sea route was established from Europe to India.

Ibn Sina's book played the role of being the only respectable book used in the teaching of medicine in the universities of the Middle Ages, both in the dominated by the Arab-Islamic empire Europe and in the nearby Western countries.

It should be noted that the Canon of Medicine (along with the Book of Healing), was made up of several systematically ordered volumes and was written by the Persian Muslim doctor Ibn Sina ("Son of Sina" this is how he was called in abbreviated form). His work was very well accepted at that time until the Renaissance, for its scientific and encyclopedic character and for integrating the Arab philosophy with the Greek philosophy that was accepted at that time.

In fact, the book succeed in displacing the works of the Greek physician Galen and it became the preferred manual for European medical schools.

This book gave many contributions to medieval medicine, among which stand out the knowledge of the the human eye antomy and the recognition of the symptoms of diseases such as diabetes and meningitis. Why did the policy of treating the Great Plains as a huge reservation change?

A. White settlers began wanting the land on the Plains.
B. Native Americans refused to remain on the Plains.
C. Native American populations decreased and needed less land.
D. The Plains failed to meet the needs of Native American peoples.

Answers

the answer is A. White settlers began wanting the land on the Plains.

Answer:

A. White settlers began wanting the land on the Plains

Explanation:

Initially, the Great Plains were given to the Native Americans as place where they can live freely and as they did prior to the white settlers, thus they were one very large reservation. This changed though as the time passed by, and the great potential of the Great Plains was noticed by the white settlers, thus they started wanting the land. The Great Plains were vast, they had soil of excellent quality, and weather conditions that were suitable for large scale farming. This led to conflict between the white settlers and the Native Americans, with the white settlers coming out as winners, and gradually taking over the ''fruit basket'' of North America into their possession, gradually turning it into one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world.

A Pakistani terrorist group threatens to contaminate the water supply of a major city with poison.

North Korea releases the floodgates on a dam, causing flash floods that kill six South Koreans.

Natives of Sudan have not wanted to share their limited water supply, leading to civil war and killing of thousands.

During the Libyan Civil War, loyalists seize a water plant and cut off the water supply to the capital.

Answers

Final answer:

Conflict over water rights arises from limited access and disputes, ranging from local to international levels, often exacerbated by climate change and economic pressures. The situation in Syria illustrates how water scarcity can lead to unrest and war, while regions like Asia and the Middle East face challenges due to falling water tables and pollution. The debate on water as a human right is intertwined with issues of environmental change and globalization.

Explanation:

Conflicts over water rights tend to arise when access to this essential resource is limited or disputed. Such conflicts can take various forms, from local disagreements to international confrontations. For instance, disputes over the Nile River emphasize the crucial role that water can play in inter-state conflicts in places like northern Africa, where countries have combated over control and usage rights. More commonly, however, water conflicts occur on a local or regional scale and are begotten by a myriad of issues, including climate change and economic pressures.

Water scarcity has been a catalyst for social unrest and even warfare, as observed in Syria, where prolonged drought exacerbated existing tensions and contributed to the civil war. In other regions like Asia and the Middle East, falling water tables and pollution add to the risk of conflict, challenging the growth and stability of these areas. The question of whether water is a human right is part of a larger debate, entangled with the realities of environmental change, globalization, and human security concerns.

Understanding these complex dynamics is essential to managing and preventing future conflicts over water, which may otherwise escalate in an increasingly water-stressed world.

Answer:

Hi!

The answer to your questions goes like this:

Finding a lender - Buying a home

Pre-Qualified loan - Buying a home

Property Walkthrough - Buying a home AND renting

Credit and background checks - Buying a home AND renting

Explanation:

Finding a lender: A lender is a person or organization that lends money, and in the context of real state, a morgage lender is needed to get enough money to buy a home. This is not applicable for renting because renting only requires a small deposit upfront that's usually no more than 1k, while buying a house requires a larger upfront payment and a larger mortage payment every month.

Pre-qualified loan: In order to make sure you can buy a house, you need the lender to pre-qualify you for a loan. This means that the lender will check your credit and decide if you are trustworthy enough to lend you 100k or more. This is not required for renting a place as renting payments are lower.

Property walkthrough: Seeing the property is important when buying or renting so you can be sure you will be living in a safe space that meets your needs. This is why this is necessary for both buying a house and renting an apartment.

Credit and Background checks: Both credit and background checks are needed when renting and buying a house or apartment. This is so the owner or landlord can see that you are a truthworthy person who will most likely pay their rent or morgage on time and will take good care of the property for the years to come.
